The World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) has no official date. It is an international clothing-optional bike ride in which participants plan, meet and ride together en masse on human-powered transport 

(the majority are on bicycles but unicycles, skateboards and inline skates are also allowed) to "deliver a vision of a cleaner, safer body-positive world."

Summer Read: "Sooley" by John Grisham

 

John Grisham is one of my favorite contemporary mainstream (straight) authors. To my knowledge, his novels aren't necessarily all-inclusive but they are emphatically not homophobic nor are they racially exclusive. His characters and plots are interesting and varied. They incorporate a diversity of scenarios and situations. 

The following is from the book's summary:

"In the summer of his seventeenth year, Samuel Sooleymon gets the chance of a lifetime: a trip to the United States with his South Sudanese teammates to play in a showcase basketball tournament. He has never been away from home, nor has he ever been on an airplane. The opportunity to be scouted by dozens of college coaches is a dream come true. 

Samuel is an amazing athlete, with speed, quickness and an astonishing vertical leap. The rest of his game, though, needs work and the American coaches are less than impressed. 

During the tournament, Samuel receives devastating news from home: a civil war is raging across South Sudan, and rebel troops have ransacked his village. His father is dead and his younger sister is missing. His mother and two younger brothers are in a refugee camp in nearby Uganda. 

Samuel desperately wants to go home but it is not possible. Partly out of sympathy, the coach of North Carolina Central offers him a scholarship. Samuel moves to Durham, enrolls in classes, joins the collegiate team and prepares to sit out his freshman season. There is plenty of more mature talent and he isn't immediately needed.

But Samuel has something no other player has: a fierce determination to succeed so he can bring his family to America. He works tirelessly on his game, shooting baskets every morning at dawn by himself in the gym and soon he is dominating everyone in practice. With the North Carolina Central team losing and suffering injury after injury, Sooley, as he is nicknamed, is called off the bench. And the legend begins.  

But how far can Sooley take his team? Will success allow him to save his family? How will he resolve the issues between the NCAA and the NBA?"

"Sooley" is a first for John Grisham. He deals with the aftermath of the Darfur/Sudanese/South Sudanese controversy, collegiate education, NCAA/NBA issues and of course, humanity. This novel is fascinating and difficult to put down. Grisham captures your attention no matter if you enjoy basketball or not.

Hairy Armpits: Summer Majesty!

 

Okay, I named this blog NEKKID FURRY BOI for a reason - actually, several reasons. First, that is exactly what I am. Second, that is the type of man that I am attracted to. Thirdly, naked and hairy men are sexy! There, I think I have belatedly explained the title here. 

One aspect of the male anatomy that I am particularly obsessed with is, of course, hairy armpits. Another are hairy chests. So the above image - even though it doesn't show his full nudity - does provide me with enough of him that I can vividly image the rest. I can also fantasize about what I can do to him and with him! 

Just in case anyone is wondering, I respect the right of everyone to determine their own level of body hair. However, I keep mine all natural. I only shave my facial hair. None anywhere else!

Gay In The NBA

Last Spring, Jason Collins, a professional basketball player, came out as a gay man. This news rocked the sports world as Collins became the first active player of any major U. S. professional sports team to do so. Previously, most pros who bothered to come out had done so after they retired. 

Collins' contract wasn't renewed and he spent most of the NBA season training and searching for a team. That changed at the end of February when the Brooklyn Nets team gave him a two-week temporary contract. Early this month, Collins was awarded a contract for the remainder of this current season as a member of the Brooklyn team. .

Professional tennis star Dustin Brown is of British-Jamaican heritage who currently plays for Germany because he lived there while growing up. Brown was born on December 8, 1984 in the city of Celle, in then West Germany. He began playing tennis professionally in 2002, and plays both doubles and singles on the ATP tours.

His highest ranking to date with ATP is 89 in singles and 54 in doubles. His ATP 2012 wins in doubles include Casablanca, Morocco, on April 14. He was runner-up in doubles in Marseilles, France, and Kitzbuhel, Austria. His singles victory was in Bath, UK, on March 25, 2012.

On the Challenger doubles circuit, he captured titles in Sarajevo, Serbia, on March 17, and Rome, Italy, on April 17.

And, what's nice about Dustin Brown is the fact that he really likes to hang out shirtless! Cool!

Now, if we can just get him to loose those shorts!









Summer and London Olympics

Can you believe it's already August, 2012? Where did the summer go? To me, it seems like only yesterday that it was the Memorial Day weekend. Time flies when you're having fun! Now, the 2012 London Olympics are underway and what a party that is becoming! Thanks to modern technology, it's as though we're all there live. All those handsome men...! LOL!

During the month of August, I'm slowing down posting to my blog. I want some time to enjoy the Olympics and the last full month of summer. I will write only one blog entry each week for this period. I will increase my number of postings when September arrives.

In the meantime, enjoy the Olympic spectacle and all of the month of August. Be careful and be safe. Check in weekly for a new post!

Olympic Pride

The Summer Olympics are now underway in London. The Opening Ceremony was a fantastic production that gave us a glimpse of British history and of that country's contributions to the world. As always, the Parade of Olympians is a moving tribute to the spirit and mission of the games. Having a mixed heritage, I feel pride in my paternal ancestry as the home of the original Olympics and the concept of universality. I have the same pride in my maternal ancestry for their modern achievements.

This year, it was no different. It was a fitting climax to the Opening Ceremonies that the lighting of the Olympic Flame was a combined effort of the 204 individual leaves carried in the parade by the respective teams. Let the Games begin!

Mixed Race Celebrity Mondays: Joakim Noah

Joakim Simon Noah is the son of African-born (Cameroon) French singer and professional tennis player Yannick Noah and Cecilia Rodhe, Miss Sweden, 1978. He was born in New York City on February 25, 1985. Joakim holds American, Cameroonian, French and Swedish citizenships. He currently plays on the Chicago Bulls basketball team of the National Basketball Association (NBA).


Noah stands 6' 11" tall and weighs 232 pounds. He is known throughout the NBA for his exceptionally long hair. While in college, he played for the Florida Gators basketball team (2004-2007). In 2006, he was named the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Final Four Most Outstanding Player during the March Madness basketball championships that year. His paternal grandfather, Zacharie Noah, was a Cameroonian professional soccer player.

On February 22, 2012, Noah scored his first career triple-double with 13 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists in a game against the Milwaukee Bucks. He also plays for the French National Basketball Team and is eligible for both the American, Cameroonian and Swedish national teams.

In 2008, Joakim was arrested in Gainesville, Florida, for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with an opened container of alcohol and marijuana possession. He was fined $200 and given probation. In 2011, he was fined $50,000 by the NBA for calling a fan "faggot." This despite the rampant and long-time rumors both in Cameroon and France of his father, Yannick, being gay. Noah in subsequent press interviews repeatedly apologized for the offense and supported the NBA for his discipline.
