The World Through My Eyes

The World Through My Eyes: A collection of essays, reflections and thoughts about men, sex, love, relationships, politics, friendships, nudism, current events, social concerns, humanitarian issues, religion and all those wonderful experiences that constitute life as seen and felt by me: a thirty-something Deaf Gay man of mixed racial heritage (half-black, half-white) living in the Virginia Beach area of the United States. A scrapbook of my life. I've been a confirmed Gay nudist for the past 20 years (since puberty). Sometimes, we just need to step back and chill and try not to be so serious and tense. Life is short, stand up and get into it! nekkidfurryboi@gmail.com.

Whichever way you take it, be safe and enjoy!

If you drink or drug, please do so responsibly! Make sure you have a designated driver and a sober friend to watch your back! Always have a latex or polyurethane condom and water-based lubricant with you. Do not share needles and syringes!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN, 2013!

Beach Time!

The summertime is here and along with the season comes the great past-time, a day, a weekend or a week at the beach. It really makes no difference how long the stay is, the excitement and fun lasts as long as we are there: at the B-E-A-C-H!

So grab your towel and your sunscreen and plan for fun! Part of the preparation is packing protection (condoms + lubricant) for those "unexpected" but welcome encounters!

It's time to get naked and have a great time. Surf, sand and sun are a great combination, especially with a shoreline packed with crowds of naked men, as far as the eye can see!

National Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS

Today begins the National Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS. This was originally known as Black Church Week for the Healing of HIV/AIDS. Since it began back in 1990, it has expanded beyond the Black church community and is now observed across all faith boundaries; Buddhist, Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Hindu and others. The campaign is sponsored by The Balm In Gilead, Inc.

This community and spiritual collaboration focuses not just on the healing through prayer. It also encourages compassion and tolerance for people living with HIV and their inclusion within the faith community. It urges testing as the means of knowing individual status, promotes prevention education and early treatment for those infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.

National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day

National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is observed annually on February 7, during Black History Month. This year, 2012, is the twelfth consecutive year of recognizing this event. National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NBHAAD) is a national HIV yesting and treatment community mobilization initiative targeting African-Americans in the USA and all Black people of the African Diaspora. This awareness commemoration focuses on four distinct and specific areas: education, testing, involvement and treatment.

NBHAAD is an opportunity for the the African-American community to outreach among itself in order to heighten efforts aimed at treatment for those who are living with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, and to share education and individual prevention skills in order to stem the tide of infection within our communities. The 2012 NBHAAD theme is: I Am My Brother/Sister's Keeper: Fight HIV/AIDS!

NBHAAD represents a chance for all people, no matter what their race and ethnicity, to pause, remember and renew their commitment to ending this dreadful disease in all communities and neighborhoods throughout the USA and the world. It is a message that needs to be repeated in order to preserve our future. Our love for our brothers and ourselves is the reason for our resolve to become educated, involved and tested.

Safe Santa Suggestions

The picture above is by Tom of Finland, a noted gay artist, who often illustrated the characters of the leather and fetish members of gay life. This one, aside from the holiday theme shows Santa stuffing his junk inside a stocking. Nothing wrong with that! Many of us welcome Santa's junk, or any other cock, anytime during the year. This is only natural to us as gay men. But in this day and time, it isn't all that simple anymore.

We all need to be responsible and protect both ourselves and our sexual partners. It makes no difference if our partner is a one-time hook-up, an anonymous trick or a faithful lover. Every sexual encounter is the same. If there's a possibility for the exchange of any body fluid, then we need to act as reasonable and responsible men. Cover the junk and protect ourselves and our men that we're sexing. It's that simple. I can't break it down any other way.

It's all about wearing a condom when we're having sex. If you take the dick, then you need to make sure the cock has a condom on before you allow it to tap your ass. If you give the dick, then you put a condom on before you even think about getting any. That's the way it is. By the way, condoms are everyone's responsibility, so there should always be one available. It's not solely the duty of the giver or receiver, but both.

Many of us have rounds of social activities planned for the season, as hosts or as guests. This presents opportunities for possible sexual engagements. Shop early and make certain plenty of condoms and water-based lubricant on hand. It isn't fun to be in the heat of passion and realize that your supply is empty. Plan ahead and avoid the rush.

A gift suggestion for a good friend? A stocking filled with condoms. What better way to show that you care than to share some lifesavers with those we love?

Celebrate Summer!

Summer is here and it is a time for us all to go forth, exit those protective winter cocoons and enjoy life! A time for us to chase those dreams, seek out those fantasies and experience life. Too much work and procrastination and the most important gift that we have, life, soon, all too soon, passes us by. So let's all get out, get naked and allow ourselves the pleasure that we often deny ourselves. Go forth and seek out a good time. As long as we're responsible and honest, there's nothing wrong with being ourselves and trying to be happy!

Too often, we consider ourselves unworthy of an innocent summer romance, fling or thing. Many times, we don't think that we've deserved it. Sometimes, we're leary about it simply because we operate on the assumption that it is beyond our grasp. Nothing could be further from the truth. As gay men, we have every right to seek out our happiness wherever we can find it. Maybe the summer encounter won't last through the autumn. But then again, we'll never know the truth until we try. Maybe that kiss will lead to a one-night fuck-fest. Or, it might lead to more. Again, if we don't take the plunge, we'll never know for sure.

What's important is that we go for it and allow it to happen. We grab the moment and see where it will take us. Live just a little in the present and take a chance on life. As long as we communicate honestly with each other and act in a mature and responsible manner (this includes discussing the use of condoms before we become intimately involved), enjoying the physical intimacy of another man is good for our mental, emotional and physical health. Let yourself go and let life happen. Celebrate living and celebrate summer. Embrace life!

Mixed Race Celebrity Mondays: Lenny Kravitz

Lenny Kravitz
Lenny Kravitz has always been one of my favorite celebrities. He's one fine looking man as well as being his own man, himself; never one to fit inside any one definition nor the standard "box" that society wants us to remain inside. I've been to two of his concerts live and both were an experience and a special world, unto themselves. Bro Lenny can perform and work an audience like few in his field. His longevity in the world of entertainment is a testament to his remarkable abilities. Although not a gay man (although I wish he were), he obviously is comfortable with his body and harbors no fears of sharing his nudity with others.

Leonard Albert "Lenny" Kravitz was born on May 26, 1964, in New York City. His mother is Roxie Roker, a woman of African-Carribean descent from The Bahamas. She is well-known for her role as Helen Willis in the hit TV series, The Jeffersons. His father is Sy Kravitz, a Russian Jew who was a NBC television news producer. He was named after his uncle, PFC Leonard Kravitz, who was killed in action during the Korean War.

Kravitz attended P.S. 6 for elementary school and before entering there already was demonstrating his interest and propensity for music. By the age of 3, he was regularly in the kitchen banging on pots and pans, using them as drums. It was during elementary school that he began to play the drums and soon adding the guitar to his repertoire. "My parents were very supportive of the fact that I loved music early on, and they took me to a lot of shows." he is quoted as telling the media.

In 1974, at the age of 10 years old, the family moved to Los Angeles, California, when his mother secured her character in television. While there, for three years he sang with the California Boys Choir where he learned classical music. He also sang with the Metropolitan Opera and also performed in Mahler's Third Symphony at the Hollywood Bowl. It was when living in Los Angeles that Lenny was introduced to rock music, listening to Led Zeppelin, Kiss, Aerosmith, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Cream and The Who. Other significant influences were Marvin Gaye, Miles Davis, Bob Marley and John Lennon. He attended Beverly Hills High School and it was there that he taught himself to play both the piano and bass. He was a mediocre student spending more time with music than his studies. He graduated BHHS in 1982, and convinced his parents to fund a recording session in lieu of college tuition.

From this initial demo, Mr. Kravitz received offers from several record labels. At the time, he was also told to change his style as he wasn't "black enough" for R&B-friendly radio stations nor was was he "white enough" for rock-friendly stations. "I refused," he told the Los Angeles Times in a 1989 interview.

He finally made a record deal with Virgin Records in January, 1989, and his first album, Let Love Rule, was released on September 6, of that same year to mixed reviews. The album was a moderate success in the USA but proved to be an instant hit in Europe and Australia. He was soon signed on as the opening act for rock groups: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Bob Dylan and David Bowie. In 1990, he wrote and produced, along with Ingrid Chavez, "Justify My Love" for the pop artist Madonna for her album, The Immaculate Collection.

In 1991, he released his second album, Mama Said, which soon rocketed to the Top 40, his first album to do so. Two tracks from this production, "It Ain't Over Til It's Over" and "Always On The Run" both landed on Billboard's Top 100. This success marked his official arrival into the rock scene and his astronomical career was now in orbit. From here on out, he was now recognized as both a talent and phenomenon within the music industry. In 1993, his third album was released, Are You Gonna Go My Way, which earned him the BRIT Award for best international male artist in 1994. This disc also won the MTV Video Music Award for Best Male Video in 1993 for the title track.

Now established in his chosen profession, the early awards were soon followed by others. Between 1999 and 2002, he consecutively received The Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance, breaking the record for most wins in that category and for most consecutive wins in any category. In addition to the Grammys, he also received The American Music Awards, Radio Music Awards and Blockbuster Entertainment Awards.

2009: Lenny and Ass
Lenny Kravitz is recognized throughout the world as an accomplished singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer and arranger. His acclaimed unique style incorporates elements of rock, soul, funk, reggae, hard rock, psychedelic, folk and ballads. His latest album, Black and White America is due to be released in the Spring, 2011.

I, and many other mixed-race offspring, can identify with Lenny Kravitz as he shares his experience of not being black enough nor being white enough, early in his career. His achievements are an inspiration to us all.

Mr. Kravitz participated in the benefit auction for the Red Hot Organization, in conjunction with Amazon.com, in their efforts to raise public awareness concerning HIV/AIDS in 2001.

Best Wishes For A Safe And Successful 2011!

As we begin to salute (in our own respective ways) 2010 and to welcome 2011, I wish to each one of you all my best! May the new year be one of happiness and prosperity for us all. Thank you for visiting here during 2010 and I hope that you return often in 2011. Your feedback on this blog is important so please leave a comment or send an email: nekkidfurryboi@gmail.com. Negative or positive, I'd like to know your thoughts.

If you're out and about to celebrate the arrival of the new year or the final days of Kwanzaa, if you indulge (regardless of your substance of choice), please don't drive. If there's even a remote possibility that you might INdulge, be prepared and have a latex condom and water-based lubricant available. Be safe so that you may enjoy all of 2011 and beyond.

Happy New Year!

Pictured here is Trap Boyy, one of my favorite actors. He is the ultimate bottom and his ass can fuck a cock like there's no tomorrow! Birds of a feather? Plus, he's downright sexy as hell!

December 1: World AIDS Day

Today, December 1, 2010, marks the twenty-second observance of World AIDS Day. It is a day to wear a red ribbon and reach out to at least one other person and talk to them about the facts concerning HIV/AIDS. It is a day to remind the rest of our society that this disease is preventable. It is a day to reinforce the fact that it isn't who we are, but what we do that puts us at risk of HIV infection. It is a day to build bridges and eliminate barriers.

Wear a red ribbon. Show the world that you are aware and that you care.
